I started playing the drum kit at thirteen years old after banging
around on bongos for a year or so.
1963 was a big year. I started at Nepean High School where
I took music, played in the school band and hooked up with
Brad, Dave and Jack. We played in a few bands together
over the years, eventually evolving into the "FIVE D".
The "FIVE D" quickly became one of the top and busiest
bands in the Ottawa area during the mid-60’s. We
recorded three singles, two of which went to Number 1, "Baby
Boy" and "Running Round in Circles".
In 1968 the "FIVE D" opened for The WHO and The TROGGS at the then new Civic Centre. This was to be our last performance as a group for twenty-three years. In March 1991, Dave, Brad, Keith, Mark Corbin and myself reunited to perform at a CHEO benefit concert and CJOH's 25th birthday.
During the 70’s and 80's I was pretty much out of the music scene, concentrating on family and career. I received my CGA Accounting Designation in 1975 and still work in the field today.
Throughout the years I continued to play the drums
and jam with the guys. When Dave called in January 2004 to
put together a regular schedule of getting together, I jumped at
the chance.
I hope you like the results. Have a listen!
Brian
